About the colour: Mondrian early colour plane compositions red (1916-1918)
Piet Mondriaan (after 1906 Piet Mondrian) is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He is known for being one of the pioneers of abstract art, as he changed his artistic direction from figurative painting to an increasingly abstract style with in the end just simple geometric elements. For his early abstract paintings he did not use only primary colours but more natural hues like the one we chose for Amersfoort, the place where Mondrian was born.
