About the colour: Iron Clay

In Australia there are still examples of Aboriginal rock art visible which date back more than 20.000 years. Ochre and iron clay were materials obtained from the local land used to create colours such as white, yellow an red. Charcoal was used to produce black. These became the four basic colours of the Aboriginal artists from the modern Desert Art Movement that began in 1971.
